23 June 2008 : Wexford Opera House wins RIAI award

Keith Williams Architects and the Office of Public Works in Ireland have won a prestigious RIAI Award.

RIAI (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland) prizes for buildings completed in 2008 were presented last night (22 June) during a ceremony held at the Cow Shed Theatre in Dublin’s Phoenix Park by John Gormley, minister for the environment, heritage and local government.

President of the RIAI, Sean Ó Laoire said: ‘What all of this year’s award winning projects show is that good design is relevant and possible for all building types not just the “grand projects” – this includes smaller projects and once-off housing. By promoting good quality design of our buildings, as well as of our towns and cities, Ireland can position itself as an international standard setter and help attract more high-end investment in the economy.’

Keith Williams and the Office of Public Works won the award for designing and project managing the country’s best cultural building for their acclaimed Wexford Opera House.
