28 march 2016 : Keith Williams will deliver a guest lecture at University of Cork on 14 April

Keith Williams will deliver a guest lecture at Cork Centre for Architectural Education at the University of Cork. Keith will be speaking on his firm’s work at the UCC Society on 14 April.

The theme of the lecture will be Keith Williams : Architecture of the Specific, sharing the title with the Monograph on Keith’s work. He will examine the themes and principles that have governed his firm’s design ethos, competition entries and realised buildings since its foundation in 2001. Keith will examine elements of architectural history setting the context for discussion on his major European buildings and will describe underlying principles such as light, form, space and materiality; elements that for him represent the essence of architecture. He will also talk of his long held belief in the power of the generative sketch and sketch model, elements which he believes are the key tools in the architect’s armoury, and which determine the direction of all the firm’s projects.

During the visit Keith will also participate in post-graduate student crits.

This lecture is a the second that Keith has delivered at the school following on from his first lecture given in April 2007.

Venue: First Floor Lecture Room, Cork Centre for Architectural Education, 9-10 Copley Street, Cork, Ireland.

Start Time: 7pm
