28 may 2010 : Richard Brown appointed to Southwark Design Review Panel

Richard Brown a director at Keith Williams Architects has been formally appointed to the Southwark Design Review Panel.

The Southwark DRP consists of members with unique design attributes to offer highly skilled independent advice on all aspects of design and development to both architects and their clients seeking to bring major projects through the planning process.

The Urban Task Force and the creation of Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) in the late 90’s encouraged local authorities to formalise and expand the role of design within the development control process.

In response, the Southwark Design Review Panel was established in February 2006. Since that time the panel has reviewed more than 60 development proposals ranging from a small innovative community church to large scale mixed use developments.

The London Borough of Southwark is widely recognised for achievements in championing high quality architecture including winning three RIBA/RTPI housing design awards, the highest number awarded to any local authority in England.
